BA/MA-Seminar SP2: The International Relations of the Middle East: The Gaza War 2023-25 as a Case Study

Mittwoch, 18.03.2026

The October 7 attacks and the subsequent war in the Gaza Strip constitute a turning point in the International Relations of the Middle East. This Seminar will address the International Relations of the Middle East in the context of the Gaza War of 2023-2025. The Seminar is divided in two parts. In the first one, we will acquaint ourselves with relevant aspects of International Relations Theory aiming at understanding dynamics on both the regional and global level. In the second part, we will focus on in-depth case studies analysing strategies and policies of individual states and alliances. The course thus covers the drivers of foreign policy of the principal states involved on the regional and global level. The role of international organisations, such as the United Nations, will also be taken into account. One of the sessions, will be dedicated to an exchange with Prof. Andrea Teti, expert on International Relations of the Middle East and visiting scholar from the University of Salerno.
