BA/ATS Seminar: Faschisierung

Dienstag, 17.03.2026

The seminar focuses on analyzing the processes through which fascist dispositions, affects, and discourses are increasingly inscribing themselves into those segments of society that are politically and culturally marked as the “center.” The concept of the “fascistization of the center” focuses on the normalization of authoritarian logics, affective polarizations, and racializing orders that are effective not at the margins but at the core of liberal democracies. On the ground of current research in different disciplines, the seminar examines the interactions between law, economics, body politics, and affect, and discusses the stabilization, deepening, or creation of symbolic and material orders based on the participatory promises and exclusion mechanisms of current right-wing politics. The discussion of these dynamics does not focus on historical comparisons, but draws on current research from different contexts and disciplines, thus shedding light on the differences and similarities between various processes of fascistization that we are currently observing globally.
